01 Jan Miners New Year Message
Sussex County Miners Gear Up for 2024 with Star Players Returning, Fan Experience Upgrades, & New Ticket Perks
January 1, 2024, Augusta, NJ
Dear Sussex County Community and Miners Fans,
Happy New Year! As we usher in 2024, it’s my pleasure to announce the official launch of the Sussex County Miners 2024 season! Tickets are now on sale, and we invite you to experience our new and improved ticketing system.
Reflecting on my first year as General Manager, It was a year of Community and Growth. Together, we achieved significant milestones, including raising over $40,000 for various local causes, which speaks volumes about the heart and spirit of our community. We led heartfelt initiatives, including fundraisers for our number one fan, Brandon Bordt and the Miners inaugural Christmas Tree for Charity event which raised thousands for local non profits & local charities. Our Battle of The Badges game, in partnership with state police, raised $14,000 to fund a young boy’s motorized wheelchair.
2023 saw the successful merger of local youth baseball programs into The Tri-State Outlaw, now an integral part of the Sussex County Miners. This initiative provides young athletes with invaluable opportunities to learn and grow under the guidance of experienced professionals, and utilize our state of the art training facility Champions Way Sports Academy. These efforts underline our dedication to making a significant impact in Sussex County.
As we embark on the 2024 season, our focus is on bringing you more excitement, engagement, and unforgettable baseball. We have heard your feedback and have made significant changes and upgrades in effort to improve your fan experience.
Here is a small sample of what we have planned for 2024:
Star Players Returning for 2024
As we gear up for 2024, I am thrilled to share that 20 of the 24 players from last year’s playoff team are returning. This includes our league’s best bullpen, promising another season of top-tier baseball. We can confirm that All-Star outfielders Oraj Anu and Edwin Mateo will be returning, alongside our All-Star pitchers Billy Parsons, Mark Moclair, Robbie Hitt, and Tyler Luneke. We will be announcing more on returning players, as well as new signings in the coming weeks.

Renewed focus on connecting with area communities, schools, sports teams, and other local organizations:
The Miners have added a Coordinator of Community Engagement to foster relationships during the off-season. Led by Scott Davies 0ur newly appointed Coordinator of Community Engagement, Davies’ connection with Sussex County goes back to the early 1990s as an on-air host at WSUS-FM. After a three-decade career as a teacher and elementary school principal, Davies retired as an educator and now enjoys work in the sports-entertainment world with MetLife Stadium, as well as in his now expanded role with the Miners. Davies also works behind the microphone as the public address announcer during all Miners home games. These efforts have led to a large increase in participation for the Miners Read to Achieve program, now encompassing 20 local school districts, and thousands of students, furthering our commitment to education and community engagement. Improved In-Stadium Experience: Adding to the convenience, we’ve installed TVs in concession lines so you’ll never miss a moment of the action.

Your unwavering support is the cornerstone of our success, and I eagerly anticipate sharing another year of exceptional baseball with you. Thank you for being an integral part of our Miners family.
