Miners Run Win Streak to Six

Score Double Digit Runs For Fifth Time In Last Six Games

July 3, Little Falls, NJ – The Sussex County Miners (21-9) scored twice in each of the first four innings en route to a 12-3 win over the New Jersey Jackals (16-14) on Saturday night at Yogi Berra Stadium. The win pushes the Miners 5 games clear of the Jackals atop the Northeast Division of the Frontier League.

Offensively, the Miners were led by a pair of three RBI, 2-for-4 efforts. One from Todd Frazier, who doubled in the first to knock home a run, and a single in the eighth, scoring two more runs. The other was from Audy Ciriaco, who doubled home a pair of runs in the fourth inning, then singled home a run right after Frazier’s single in the eighth. Chuck Tayolr also had a two hit performance for the Miners.

Max Herrmann got the start for the Miners, but was lifted after an inning plus precautionarily due to injury. Alexander Vargas then threw four solid innings for the Miners, allowing two runs on six hits. From there, the combination of Tyler Luneke, Jalen Miller, Sr., and Baylor Sundahl thrwe the final four innings in shutdown style, with only a bloop single in the ninth the only baserunner the Jackals would get off of the Miners final three relievers.

The two teams will finish off their three-game, split city series tomorrow night at Skylands Stadium. The Fourth of July, Hometown Heroes festivities will kick off with a 4:30 gate opening, pre-game parade, and 6:05 first pitch. Fireworks, as always, will follow the conclusion of the game.
