AUGUSTA,NJ- The Quebec Capitales cap off their six game road trip with a 12-7 victory over the Sussex County Miners. Gabriel Maciel set the tone early with a two-run Home run in the first inning. Kyle Crowl delivered Quebec’s response sending a two-run Home Run off a fly ball to left field from Jordan Sesar after he retired the first two batters of the frame. Chavez Young followed by sending a home run of his own to right field just one pitch after.
Mahki Backstrom gave the Miners hope as he homered on the very first pitch of the fourth inning and to tie the game. Kiko Romero put the Miners ahead with a two run Home Run later after Keenan Taylor blasts a double to right field.
The Miners bullpen couldn’t support the offense as Tyler Thornton allowed six earned runs in the sixth inning and gave the Capitales a cushion going into the stretch. Nelvin Correa and Cooper Morgan held the Miners at bay to secure the win, only allowing two runners to score in the final third of the contest.
The Miners resume their regular season campaign Tuesday August 25th on the road against the Trois-Rivières Aigles. All three games will be live at 6:30pm on the Miners Broadcast Network.
