FIRST AWARD OF THE SEASON FOR HAIR, MINERS
May 27, Dayton, OH – Sussex County Miners 2B Trey Hair has been named the league’s Batter of the Week for the week of May 20-26, as selected by PointStreak, the league’s official statistician.
In six games, Hair went 13-for-24 (.542) with one home run, four doubles and 10 RBI as the first-place Miners went 4-2 on the week. He had at least two hits in five of the six games, including a 4-for-4, two-RBI performance in Thursday’s 8-5 victory over Trois-Rivières. Two days earlier, he hit two doubles and drove in three runs in an 8-1 win over the Aigles.
Currently, Hair leads the Can-Am League with a .471 average and a .706 slugging percentage, and is tied for first with 16 hits.
2019 marks Hair’s first season in independent baseball after spending the previous two years in the Tampa Bay Rays organization, reaching as high as Single-A. The Firth, Neb., native was a 37th-round choice by Tampa Bay in the 2017 draft out of the University of Evansville.
