WINNER-TAKE-ALL GAME FIVE TOMORROW

September 8, Augusta, NJ – The Trois-Rivieres Aigles, aided by a big day from Alberth Martinez, took a second consecutive elimination game against the Sussex County Miners by a final score of 8-6 to even the Best-of-Five Can-Am League Semifinal Playoff Series at two games apiece. This sets up a winner-take-all Game Five tomorrow afternoon at Skylands Stadium.

But the Aigles clawed back into the contest and tied the game at three by the fourth inning on the back of a Martinez solo home run and a RBI double by Michael Suchy.

The Miners would retake the lead in the sixth inning on a two-run double by Mikey Reynolds, but the lead would be short-lived. in the top of the seventh, Martinez would strike yet again, hitting a two-run double of his own to tie the game at five. That would set the stage for Martinez once more, who hit a go ahead three-run home run – his second longball of the night – to put the Aigles ahead 8-5. Sussex County would push a run across on a Martin Figueroa sacrifice fly in the bottom of the ninth, but Aigles righty Matthew Rusch would get the final outs and secure the save, pushing the best-of-five series to a final game.

Tommorow’s deciding game is scheduled for a 2:05 pm first pitch at Skylands Stadium. The winner of tomorrow’s game will take on the Quebec Capitales in the Can-Am Championship Series. Quebec defeated the Rockland Boulders 6-3 in Quebec City to win their series in four games and clinch their berth in the Championship Series.
