SUSSEX COUNTY EDGED BY QUEBEC IN RAIN-DELAY FILLED GAME
August 4, Québec City, Québec – The Sussex County Miners (35-34) had their franchise-record win streak snapped last night as they were edged by the Québec Capitales (45-26), 2-1, at Stade Canac. The game was twice halted by rain and lasted 4 hours and 34 minutes.
Right fielder Alexi Colon (pictured) scored the lone run with a fifth inning blast that briefly gave Sussex County the lead. Center fielder Adron Chambers collected two hits and raised his average to .295. Kenny Roder pitched well, allowing one run on four hits in his five innings of work, before the first rain delay ended his evening. When play resumed, Kris Regas pitched a 1-2-3 sixth, but allowed a double before the game was again interrupted in the bottom of the seventh by a second rain delay. Following a lengthy stoppage, Regas surrendered the eventual game-winning run on a sacrifice fly and took the loss.
The Miners remain three games ahead of the Ottawa Champions for the fourth and final playoff spot.
