SUSSEX COUNTY SETS FRANCHISE RECORD WITH SEVENTH CONSECUTIVE WIN

August 3, Québec City, Québec – The Sussex County Miners (35-33) set a franchise record of seven consecutive wins by defeating the Québec Capitales (44-26), 5-1, at Stade Canac.

Left fielder Daniel Rockett (pictured), torched his former team with a pair of hits, runs scored, and RBI, including his sixth home run of the season. All-Star Gianni Zayas allowed only one run in his 6-2/3 innings pitched en route to his eighth win. Zayas now owns the Can-Am League’s lowest ERA of 2.54. First baseman Chase McDonald added a solo blast in the fourth while third baseman Jay Baum and right fielder Alexi Colon each collected two hits. The bullpen trio of Alex Demchak, El’Hajj Muhammad, and Mark McCoy combined to shut out the Capitales in the final three innings for the win.

The Miners are now three games ahead of the Ottawa Champions for the fourth and final playoff spot.

The series continues Friday night at 7:05 PM. Watch the action live on CanAmLeague.tv or listen to the Miners Radio Network at Mixlr.com/SCMiners.
