June 30, Quebec City, QC – The Sussex County Miners fell to the Quebec Capitales last night at Stade Canac for the second time in two days, this time by the final score of 3-1.

The Miners scored the first run of the game thanks to a Luis Alen RBI-single in the top of the second inning off of Ryan Searle. The Capitales’s Searle threw seven strong innings, only allowing that single run off of five hits and six strikeouts.

Quebec responded in the bottom half of the inning, as James McOwen slapped a solo home run off of Sussex County’s Mark McCoy. McCoy threw three innings allowing four hits and two runs with three walks. He would allow a second run in the bottom of the third, as Kalian Sams scored an RBI-single which would be all the Capitales needed.

Miners’ reliever Kevin Grendell surrendered only a solo home run to Brad Antchak over his three innings pitched. El’Hajj Muhammad and Kenny Koplove combined for two hitless innings to end the game for Sussex County. The Capitales’ relievers Will Dennis, Sean Donatello, and Nolan Becker finished the final two innings allowing only two hits.

The Miners are back in action tomorrow afternoon when they finish up their series with Quebec at Stade Canac at 1:05 PM.
