BIG NINTH INNING LEADS TO BOUNCE BACK WIN
June 24, Trois-Rivières, QC – Adron Chambers (pictured) saved his biggest hit of the night for the ninth inning. Chambers wrapped a two-run single to put the Sussex County MIners (17-16) in front for good, as the Miners would defeat the Trois-Rivières Aigles (13-22) by a score of 10-8 on Saturday night at Stade Stereo+. The win put the Miners back over 500 on the season.
Chambers and Alexi Colon each went 3 for 4 on the night, with Jay Austin, Jay Baum, J.J. Fernandez, Justin Trapp and Jarred Mederos all collecting two hits each. Chambers, Colon, Austin, and Fernandez each also had two RBIs for the Miners, who trailed Trois-Rivières four different times for the second time this season.
Julio Martinez went 3 for 4 for Trois-Rivières, including hitting his fourth home run of the season. Javier Herrera and Alexander Ayala also had two hits each and Kyle Lafrenz hit his second home run of the season for the Aigles, who had their three game wining streak snapped. Mark McCoy (2-0) picked up the win for Sussex County, while Guillaume Blanchette (1-4) took the loss for Trois-Rivières in his first game back from the Disabled List. Kody Kerski picked up his third save of the season.
