BOULDERS JUMPED OUT TO 8-0 LEAD AND NEVER LOOKED BACK
Pomona, NY – The Sussex County Miners spotted the Rockland Boulders eight runs early and were never able to recover. Losing pitcher Ray Hanson (1-3) gave up all of those runs and was pulled after just three innings. Four relievers came in to hold the Boulders to just two more runs, but the damage had already been done. In the game, Rockland took the Miners deep four times, compiled 13 hits, and did not walk a single batter.
For Sussex County, RF Dominique Taylor hit his first home run in a Miners uniform and C Nate Irving drilled his first triple as a professional. Taylor finished the evening 2-for-4 with a run scored an a RBI. 2B Steve Nyisztor went 2-for-3 and scored a run. Irving and 3B Nick Giarraputo tallied the other two RBI.
With the loss, the Miners drop to 12-15 but are now in a tie for third place with Ottawa. The Miners travel up to Québec to play the Capitales for the first time this season. First pitch is on Friday at 7:00 PM. All road games can be heard live on the Miners Radio Network.
