Miners Manager Bobby Jones Discusses Call with Umpires

MINERS GET ROLLED BY ROCKLAND, 8-0

BATS GO COLD AS SUSSEX COUNTY LOSES THIRD STRAIGHT

Pomona, NYRockland starting pitcher David Fischer twirled a gem and paved the way as the Boulders topped the Sussex County Miners, 8-0.

Fischer tossed eight scoreless innings and gave up just three hits and a pair of walks while racking up nine strikeouts. The defense behind him helped out with three double plays in the game. Reliever Donnie Joseph came on in the ninth and picked up where Fischer left off as he retired the side in order to end the game.

Offensively, Dockland’s C Marcus Nidiffer and DH Jared Schlehuber each had three hits and one RBI in the game. RF Brendon Webbhit a three-run home run in the bottom of the fourth inning for his first round tripper of the year.

The Miners could manage only two men on base and three hits (Ryan Dent, Chris Jacobs, and Nick Giarraputo). Michael Tamburino (0-2) lasted only three innings and took the loss, giving up two runs on three hits, and striking out two. CF Jay Austin, P Nick Gonzalez, and manager Bobby Jones were all ejected from the game.

Box Score

With the loss, the Miners drop to 12-14 and remain in a tie for fourth place. Tomorrow night, Sussex County plays the finale of the four-game series. First pitch is at 7:00 PM. All road games can be heard live on the Miners Radio Network.
