MINERS WALK PAST DOMINICAN REPUBLIC

CLUB RECORD IN WALKS, SEASON HIGH IN RUNS

June 10, Augusta, NJ – In a game that saw the Sussex County Miners (9-13) draw more walks than hits on their way to a 13-4 win over the Dominican Republic National Team (0-2) in front of a Fireworks Night crowd of 3,194 at Skylands Stadium. The win gives the Miners back-to-back victories over the Dominican Republic.

Offensively, it was patience that ruled the day, as the Miners drew a club record thirteen walks in the game, with every Miner starter scoring at least one run and every Miner batter reaching base. Juan Duran, Rubi Silva, and J.J. Fernandez each had two hits in the contest, with Silva, Jay Baum, and Nate Irving each knocking in two runs.

Kris Regas (3-2) threw seven strong innings for the Miners, allowing two runs (one earned) and striking out five batter to get the win. The lone earned run came on a solo home run hit by Sthervin MatosCarlos Perez (0-1) took the loss for the Dominican Republic.
