MINERS GET SHAFTED, 19-3

MINERS SUFFER WORST LOSS IN FRANCHISE HISTORY

Augusta, NJ – The New Jersey Jackals racked up a season-high 19 runs on their way to picking up their 10th win in a row as they dropped the Sussex County Miners 19-3.

Jackals 1B Art Charles set a new Can-Am League record for hits in a game as he went 6-for-6 with two home runs and five RBI. Charles was one of eight Jackals to record a hit in the game and one of six to have a multi-hit game. SS Eddie Newton went 3-for-6 with three RBI and 3B Dustin Lawley went 2-for-6 with four RBI. DH Michael O’Neill, RF /b>Cory Vaughn and C Richard Stock each added a pair of hits.

For the Miners, CF Jay Austin had two RBI and 2B Michael Antonio went 2-for-4. John Brucker, a 23-year-old rookie from nearby Sparta, made his professional debut as a pinch hitter in the 9th and got his first career hit and RBI. The win was career number 800 for manager Joe Calfapietra.
