IRVING, SILVA 2 HITS EACH IN LOSS
May 24, Augusta, NJ – The Québec Capitales scored five runs in the first three innings and cruised to a 7-1 win over the Sussex County Miners on Wednesday in front of a school day crowd of 1,621 at Skylands Stadium.
The Miners were paced by two hits apiece from Nate Irving (pictured above) and Rubi Silva. Irving also scored the only run for the Miners on the afternoon when he was knocked home on a Nick Giarraputo ground out. But the Miners were unable to plate any more runs off of Capitales starter Lazaro Blanco (2-0), who held the Miners to one run and six hit over five innings.
Québec was able to get to Sean Bierman (0-1) early in this game. Kalian Sams went 2 for 4 with a two run home run and three runs scored. Jordan Lennerton had three hits, and Taylor Oldham went 2 for 4 with a home run. Bierman would go just four innings today for the Miners.
