BOULDERS SCORE 3 IN 11TH
May 19, Augusta, NJ – The Rockland Boulders (2-0) scored three times in the 11th inning to defeat the Sussex County Miners (0-2) by a score of 6-3 in the Miners home opener at Skylands Stadium on Friday night in front of 2,990 fans.
Both teams traded leads, with the Miners holding leads of 1-0 on a Juan Duran sacrifice fly, and 2-1 on a Mike Schwartz (pictured above) home run. The Boulders would score twice in the 7th inning to take a 3-2 lead, but Rubi Silva‘s RBI single would even the score at three apiece. The Boulders would then plate three runs in the top of the 11th, with Mike Fransoso providing insurance with a run scoring triple. Sussex County was set down in order in the bottom of the 11th by Mayckol Guaipe to end the game. The winning pitcher was Thomas Lawrence (1-0). Michael Suk (0-1) took the loss or the Miners, with Guaipe earning hi first save of the season.
The Miners and Boulders continue their series tomorrow night in Pomona, NY. First pitch is scheduled or 6:30 pm and can be heard on the Miners Radio Network.
