DOMINICAN REPUBLIC RETURNS, SALINA STOCKADE NEW FOR 2018
February 1, Augusta, NJ – The Can-Am League announced on Wednesday that the Dominican Republic will once again field a team to tour the six Can-Am League teams in 2018. Joining them in the month of June are the Kansas-based Salina Stockade.
The Dominican Republic are returning for the second straight season. Last season, the Miners swept the 3-game weekend series against the Dominican Republic, including a thrilling 9-8 come-from-behind walk-off win back on June 11th. The Dominican Republic opens their tour of the Can-Am League at Skylands Stadium from June 8-10.
The Salina Stockade played a full schedule in the American Association in 2017, with all of their games played on the road. Prior to that, the Stockade played in the independent Pecos League. Salina comes to Skylands Stadium June 19-21.
Can-Am League Commissioner Miles Wolff finalized the details ahead of the Wednesday announcement. “Can-Am League clubs have played teams from outside the league for the last several years, and the games have been competitive, well-attended and enjoyable for fans and players,” Wolff said. “As Salina and the Dominican Republic have previous experience playing other independent clubs, they’re now familiar with our level of play and should prove to be quality opponents,”
