LONGBALL DOWNS MINERS FOR 2ND STRAIGHT GAME

June 23, Trois-Rivières, QC – For the second consecutive night, Connor Crane‘s grand slam helped push the Trois-Rivières Aigles (13-21) past the Sussex County Miners (16-16), as the home side took a 5-4 victory on an overcast Friday night at Stade Stereo+. The loss drops the Miners back to an even .500 on the season.

Crane’s grand slam, his fourth home run and second grand slam of the season, came in the sixth inning off of El’Hajj Muhammad, who came on for Michael Tamburino (1-3) after Tamburino had only allowed two hits and hit two batters in his five and one-third inning of work. The first hit Tamburino allowed was a solo home run to Javier Herrera in the fifth. It was Herrera’s fifth home run of the season.

For the Miners, J.J. Fernandez had a triple and a single, and knocked in two runs. Jay Baum and Alexi Colon also drove in runs for the Miners. Jay Austin‘s bid to tie the game in the ninth was foiled on a sliding catch by Trevor Gretzky that ended the game in favor of Trois-Rivières. Jeremy Kehrt (2-2) picked up the win, while Angel Rincon worked two and two-third innings to earn his first save.
