MINERS WIN THRILLER 7-6

RALLY 3 TIMES TO DEFEAT OTTAWA, KEEP HOLD ON PLAYOFF SPOT

August 17, Augusta, NJ – The Sussex County Miners (37-43) came from behind on three separate occasions, including in the tenth inning when they scored twice, to defeat the Ottawa Champions (36-45) 7-6 on Thursday night at Skylands Stadium

The Miners were led offensively by Rubi Silva, who had two doubles among his four hits, and Chase McDonald, who hit a solo home run – his eighth of the season – and had three hits and two runs batted in. Key contributions came from Alexi Colon, who had two key hits in the later innings, as well as Ryan Wolfsberg‘s two hits and Jarred Mederos‘ two key hits in the ninth and tenth, including the game winning single to cap off the comeback.

Michael Tamburino threw 7 solid innings, with the only scoring against him being a two-run single in the third. Hector Nelo picked up the win in relief for the Miners
